Jay Mack
Jay began working at Laser-558 in September 1985 and remained there until November 5th, when the station ceased. He took adopted the persona of renowned US broadcaster Jay Mack, whom he refers to as “one of the greatest DJs in American radio history,” in order to give his offshore career a new moniker. In the mid-1970s, he graduated with a B.A. in Communications with a focus on radio and television from the University of Colorado in Boulder. During his last two years there, Jay concentrated on radio and finished a research report on pirate radio in England and Holland for one of his classes. After spending much of the summer of 1970 in Europe, mostly in the Netherlands, Jay developed an obsession with the pirates.
